The executive team that leads New Edge Networks has more than 150 years of collective experience in telephone companies, competitive local exchange carriers, and Internet service providers. Senior team members previously were involved in owning or operating other successful start-up communications companies and share a common vision for building a truly great company.
Before joining New Edge Networks, executive team members worked for communications companies such as AT&T, Electric Lightwave, GST Telecommunications, Motorola, Pacific Telecom, SBC Communications, Winstar Communications, and WorldCom. Other senior team members also bring knowledge and experience from other industries in both the public and private sectors.
President, New Edge Networks
Chief Operating Officer, EarthLink
Joe Wetzel was named president of New Edge Networks in June 2008. Joe also serves as EarthLink's chief operating officer, responsible for managing EarthLink's day-to-day activities and overseeing its CLEC business. He is responsible for developing the structure and tactical goals for EarthLink's products and services across all business units.
Prior to joining EarthLink, Joe was president and chief operating officer at Mpower Communications, where he managed operations for a range of voice and data services to consumer, business, retail, and wholesale customers across major U.S. markets. He joined Mpower in 2000 and left in 2006 after the successful merger with TelePacific Corp.
Prior to his work at Mpower, Joe led the corporate engineering functions at MediaOne, which spun off from US WEST to become the third-largest cable company in the country. At MediaOne, Joe spearheaded technology and product development efforts to deliver advanced voice, data, and video services over an upgraded broadband cable network. He also was involved in the business development efforts associated with building MediaOne into a diverse broadband services company that successfully merged into AT&T Corporation in 2000.
Before his work at MediaOne, Joe held a number of senior-level positions within the technology and operations areas of US WEST.

Vice President, External Affairs
Before joining New Edge Networks when it was formed in 1999, Penny was director of government affairs for Electric Lightwave.
Penny has held a variety of managerial and executive positions with US WEST, now Qwest, including operator services, finance and more than 15 years in the legal and regulatory arena.
Penny holds a National Paralegal Certification as well as a bachelor of science degree in International Development and Public Policy from the University of Oregon and an MBA from City University in Seattle. View / download hi-resolution photo
Vice President, Sales
Kevin joined New Edge as vice president of sales in March 2007. With more than 25 years of executive sales experience, he brings the leadership and strategic vision to successfully manage and oversee all sales functions and business development.
Kevin was vice president of national retail and voice sales for EarthLink for six years before moving to New Edge. He held executive sales leadership positions with various corporate retail brands including Best Buy, Nokia Display Products, Sylvania Computer Products, which he founded and later sold, and CIDCO, Inc., a communications manufacturing and sales company that EarthLink acquired in 2001. Vice President, Marketing
Greg joined New Edge Networks in 2003, bringing with him nearly 20 years of sales, marketing and operations experience. Greg has spent 16 years in the telecommunications industry, starting in sales and culminating as the president of Eschelon of Oregon (a voice and data integration company). Most recently, Greg was CEO and founder of Marketing Partners Northwest, a well-respected marketing firm that designs and executes targeted business development campaigns.

Chief Technology Officer
Jonathan joined New Edge Networks in July 2001 with more than 20 years of experience in network engineering and technology planning. Before joining New Edge Networks, Jonathan was chief technology officer for WorldCom Broadband Solutions in Dallas.
Prior to that he was vice president of emerging technologies for Skytel, which was later acquired by WorldCom. Jonathan previously also held network, engineering and technology planning positions with Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems, Comstock Communications and AT&T Bell Laboratories.

Vice President, Finance
Geraldine Williams joined New Edge Networks as vice president of finance in January 2007. Prior to joining the company, Geraldine was first vice president and division finance officer for Washington Mutual in Seattle. For 10 years before joining Washington Mutual, Geraldine held executive and managerial-level positions with Cingular Wireless, formerly AT&T Wireless Services, also in Seattle. She began her business career as an auditor with Ernst & Young in Los Angeles.
