VANCOUVER, Wash. (August 9, 2006) EarthLink (NASDAQ: ELNK) today announced that Dan Moffat is leaving as president of New Edge Networks, the company he co-founded in 1999 and acquired by EarthLink in April 2006. This becomes effective September 1.
Moffat plans to take a personal break for travel before pursuing his interest in leading small, privately owned companies.
Dan led New Edge Networks to remarkable growth through one of the toughest economic and telecommunications industry downturns in recent history. He leaves a strong foundation for new revenue growth, said Bill Heys, president of EarthLinks value and small to medium enterprises business unit.
Today, New Edge Networks has a strong team, unique national network called BigFoot, proprietary systems, and know-how for building and managing multi-location business networks, Heys said. New Edge Networks is an important part of EarthLinks focus on growth as a total communications provider.
Reporting to Bill Heys, Linda Beck, executive vice president and general manager of business solutions for EarthLink, will oversee operations at New Edge Networks until the company names a permanent successor.
New Edge Networks is well positioned to enter its next phase of growth with corporate and financial backing from EarthLink. A number of aggressive sales and marketing initiatives and network improvements are already underway. Moffat said. I want to thank all employees and selling partners for their individual and collective contributions to help New Edge Networks grow from zero to $133 million a year in revenue in seven years.
EarthLink acquired New Edge Networks on April 13, 2006 and now operates New Edge Networks as a wholly owned subsidiary. New Edge Networks continues to be based in Vancouver, Wash.
