New Edge Networks creates new Agent Council, appoints members

VANCOUVER, Wash. – (April 16, 2007) – New Edge Networks appointed a 12-member Agent Council that will help the business network company streamline sales and marketing approaches for enhancing the effectiveness of its authorized agent program.

Following its acquisition by EarthLink Inc. (NASDAQ: ELNK), New Edge Networks is expanding and refocusing its channel program strategy. It intends to use the Agent Council to help determine best business practices for improving the quality of support, network products, training, channel management, systems, and communications.

“The New Edge Networks Agent Council will help us help them and the rest of channel, especially at a time of upheaval in telecommunications industry channel programs,” said Bruce Barnes, director of channel program for New Edge Networks. “We need to be in alignment with our agents in preparing for industry change, a task that is best accomplished by fluid two-way communication on opportunities and focus.

“By better understanding our agents’ business needs and priorities, using their input to improve New Edge's capabilities, and maximizing their capability to recognize and provide solutions that coincide with our sweet spots, we can grow everybody's business,” Barnes said. “If they win, we win.”

New Edge Networks’ Agent Council includes representation by top performing agents within each of the company’s three U.S. geographic regions. It also includes a mix of agents with different business models, such as master agencies, sub agents, and brokerage firms.

Among the topics and issues that New Edge Networks Agent Council initially will help review and prioritize through monthly meetings are: simplifying business interaction with the carrier, communications and subagent support, new product offerings and pricing, training, agent certification, enhancing security of the agent business, performance incentives and recognition.
