VANCOUVER, Wash. — (Sept. 19, 2000) — In a move to expand revenue potential for its resellers, New Edge Networks today announced it has reached an agreement with LiveVault Corp. to offer real-time computer server backup through “always on” business-class DSL connections in small, midsize and semirural markets.
Under terms of the agreement, New Edge Networks, the leading national wholesale broadband services provider in smaller markets, will provide LiveVault’s computer backup service over its network. Internet service providers, communications companies, and other distribution channel affiliates can package and offer this service to their business customers. LiveVault is a leading supplier of real-time backup solutions for Windows NTtm and Windows 2000tm servers.
“Today’s business environment demands that most current data are always available and accessible,” said Dan Moffat, president, CEO and co-founder of New Edge Networks. “The LiveVault server backup service is a natural service offering to benefit our resellers and their customers. New Edge Networks will continually expand and offer best-of-class broadband solutions as a competitive differentiator in our markets.”
LiveVault completely eliminates the need for a “backup window” during which time systems are unavailable for business operations. Databases, e-mail and e-commerce applications typical of servers can continue in full operations during the backup. All data are encrypted, transmitted and vaulted in secure Iron Mountain data centers for easy retrieval in the event of data loss or a disaster. Iron Mountain, partners with LiveVault Corp. in providing the service, is America’s largest records management company, selected by more than half the FORTUNE 500 companies to service their records management needs.
“By partnering with New Edge Networks, we’re leveraging the power of “always on” DSL connections to make it easy for business customers in underserved small and
midsize cities across the country to continuously back up the data on their servers,” said John Butler, CEO at LiveVault. “In this partnership, one plus one equals three.”
