New Edge Networks Launches High-Speed Internet Service in 13 Metro Areas

VANCOUVER, Wash., – (April 1, 2002) – New Edge Networks today announced it is launching high-speed dedicated Internet access for commercial customers in 13 major metropolitan areas in the western United States. The company plans to launch service in another 15 metropolitan areas in the eastern United States within two weeks.

A national enhanced data and broadband communications service provider, New Edge Networks is using the network it recently acquired from bankrupt At Home Corp., (OTC BB:ATHMQ.OB), to provide service in its new market areas.

New Edge Networks’ new service offering includes a wide array of scalable, fully managed Internet access methods ranging from T-1 to fractional DS-3 through OC-12, and Ethernet services. New Edge Networks can deliver fractional DS-3 service in three megabits per second increments up to 45 Mbps to help customers keep costs in line with the bandwidth needs.

New Edge Networks currently offers these services direct and is negotiating agreements with local area computer network integrators and value added resellers to serve as agents and referral partners in each of the new cities.

“Offering dedicated high-speed Internet access is a natural extension of our existing broadband business,” said Dan Moffat, president and CEO of New Edge Networks. “Many of our broadband customers in our existing tier 2, 3 and 4 cities have been asking us for service in the metro areas. Our purchase of the AtWork network gave us a fast and inexpensive foray into Tier one cities. Now we are able to provide customers a single source solution for premium quality services.”

Jason Knowles, network services analyst at Current Analysis in Sterling, Va., said, “New Edge Networks is parlaying a bargain purchase from bankrupt At Home into substantial potential value for itself and its customers. Offering broadband access to business customers in both tier 1 and smaller tier size markets provides high intrinsic value to network services customers with operations spread across large regions or the country. The growing portfolio of products and services, coupled with a demonstrated ability to deliver quality service, makes New Edge Networks a compelling choice.”

Here is the list of 13 major cities where New Edge Networks now offers dedicated high-speed Internet access: Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, Ore., Sacramento, Calif., San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose and Santa Clara, Calif., Salt Lake City, and Seattle.
