New Edge Networks Expanding Sales to Boost Customer, Revenue Growth

VANCOUVER, Wash. – (July 9, 2002) – Pursuing an aggressive plan for boosting customer and revenue growth, New Edge Networks today announced the appointment of three vice presidents to lead national broadband and data communications sales through its wholesale, direct and wide area networking areas. The appointments are effective immediately.

After building one of the country largest data communications networks based on asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) and Internet protocol (IP) technology, New Edge Networks is aggressively expanding its distribution outlets for offering business customers dependable alternatives for their broadband and data communications services. It is targeting new sales agents, systems integrators, resellers, Internet service providers, and referral partners to sell its broadband and data communications services nationally.

“New Edge Networks is well positioned to offer business and carrier customers dependable and reliable data communications services either as a primary or alternate carrier through our agent and reseller networks throughout the country,” said Dan Moffat, president and CEO of New Edge Networks. “Through our large national network we can offer business or enterprise customers unmatched breadth and depth of coverage and options for broadband access and data communication services.”

“We are at a critical juncture in the telecommunications industry,” Moffat said. “Times of great disruption create major opportunities for successful players to build great businesses. Customers are actively evaluating or looking for alternatives for minimizing potential service disruptions. New Edge Networks has clearly demonstrated its ability to perform and exceed customer expectations in the face of adversity.”

Each of the vice presidents will be responsible for bolstering their respective sales organization, expanding distribution outlets, and negotiating strategic alliances with other communications providers or carriers. The company already has agreements with hundreds of Internet service providers, complementary carrier agreements with Regional Bell Operating Companies, and network-to-network interfaces with other major communications carriers.

The three vice president appointments are: Mark Day, vice president of wholesale sales, based in Dallas; Tom Mangan, vice president of WAN sales, based in Livingston, NJ; and Jeff Waddell, vice president of direct and alternate channel sales, based in Vancouver, Wash. All three previously held managerial positions with New Edge Networks.
