New Edge Networks Unveils New Service; Helps ISPs Expand Offerings, Cut Costs

VANCOUVER, Wash. – (Dec. 3, 2002) – New Edge Networks, a national business broadband service provider, has introduced a new service that allows Internet service providers to easily expand their data communications offerings and reduce existing operating costs by aggregating separate broadband access and upstream IP circuits over a single high-speed connection.

Called AggVantage(sm), the new service also provides ISPs enhanced fault tolerances and network redundancy for accessing the Internet. New Edge Networks currently offers AggVantage in more than 100 tier 1, 2 and 3 markets across the country.

With AggVantage, ISPs can consolidate their IP upstream circuit with their DSL aggregation circuit and also provide additional services such as Frame Relay or ATM – all through a single high-speed circuit. The circuit is easily scalable to accommodate bandwidth growth, and ISPs have access to multiple carriers for accessing the Internet, instead of a dedicated circuit to a single carrier.

“The flexibility of our national network facilities enables New Edge Networks to integrate different transmission technologies and help our partners grow their businesses and reduce costs,” said Dan Moffat, president and CEO of New Edge Networks. “AggVantage is a key element of our goal of offering better business broadband services. We are unaware of similar offerings that makes it this easy for ISPs to expand service offerings, reduce costs and gain redundancy for accessing the Internet over the same IP fat pipe.”

In conjunction with the new product offering, New Edge Networks has created a spreadsheet model that enables ISPs to plug in their variable costs for various existing circuits and immediately see the network cost savings they can realize with AggVantage. New Edge Networks provides an Internet backbone consisting of multiple, geographically dispersed direct connections to AT&T Worldnet, Level 3 and Cable & Wireless, ensuring reliable performance and seamless redundancy. Through a combination of 27 direct connections and multiple private peering points with national ISPs, hosting providers and regional bell operating companies, New Edge Networks can source and deliver content faster and more reliably than most other providers.

New Edge Networks also provides multiple options for connectivity to the Internet including speed, quality of service and interface. It supports DSL, ATM, Frame Relay, Clear channel T-1 & DS-3s, and optical interfaces.
