New Edge Networks Completes ‘Mission-critical’ Data Network for AT Systems

PASADENA, Calif. – (Feb. 18, 2003) – New Edge Networks, a national business broadband service provider, today announced it completed installation of a private national data communications network for AT Systems International Inc., the third largest armored transportation and cash management company in the United States.

AT Systems’ high-speed data network, based on ATM and Frame Relay technologies, uses multi-path and redundant routing, linking about 120 branches, money rooms, and bank locations dispersed around the country with the company’s headquarters and data processing centers.

Pasadena, Calif.-based AT Systems selected New Edge Networks after its previous service provider announced plans to stop offering data communications services, forcing the company to find another carrier.

“Down time on any leg of our data network was not an option,” said Wesley Colvin, chief technical officer for AT Systems. “When we are dealing with other peoples’ money, timely data transfers are mission-critical and failures can result in steep penalties.

“A carrier’s attention to detail and commitment to excellent customer service is paramount in doing business with AT Systems,” Colvin said. “New Edge Networks provided us these assurances and delivered on its promises despite a higher than usual level of coordination that’s required when working in secure facilities.”

W. Lange And Company Inc., a telecommunications consultancy based in New Hall, Calif., advised AT Systems and managed the project that was completed within 45 business days after work began last November.

“New Edge Networks is very innovative how it approaches network architecture,” said Joe Gomez, chief information officer for W. Lange. “The attention to detail and level of management participation from top to bottom on this project exceeds what we have experienced from other carriers.

“Its flexible network, nationwide footprint, and network-to-network relationships with other major carriers makes New Edge Networks a compelling choice for data communications,” Gomez said.

Dan Moffat, president and CEO of New Edge Networks, said, “Our people understand that every circuit is crucial and they have the experience and sense of urgency to make things happen for customers large or small. We are grateful for the confidence and trust that customers like AT Systems place in our company.

“We built our national network, backroom systems, and processes understanding the importance that our customers place on their underlying data communications and broadband provider,” Moffat said. “Our relationships with AT Systems and W. Lange are just beginning and we will strive hard to maintain their trust and respect for many years to come.”
