VANCOUVER, Wash. – (Nov. 4, 2003) – New Edge Networks today announced it is one of the first communications carriers to allow network services providers to use one high-speed connection for purchasing wholesale broadband access from multiple suppliers nationwide.
With a single high-speed connection from New Edge Networks, wholesale providers such as Internet service and telecom companies can eliminate costs for redundant or under-utilized ‘aggregation circuits’ with separate carriers.
New Edge Networks’ latest product offering, called Wholesale BigFoot, also broadens network reach and selling opportunities for its partners. Provider can offer their customers the broadest reach for any combination of xDSL, Frame Relay, ATM, VPN, and frame over DSL technologies.
“We want to give enterprise and carrier customers a single source for integrating broadband access that spans multiple geographies, carriers and technologies,” said Dan Moffat, president and CEO of New Edge Networks. “With Project BigFoot we are positioning New Edge Networks as a single-source provider for our customers’ total broadband needs at virtually any address in the United States.
“Our customers continually tell us they want one seamless network, one provider, and one point of contact,” Moffat said. “We call this broadband glue.”
In order to offer various carriers’ wholesale broadband services, providers are required to establish separate aggregation circuits with each carrier. This added cost limits new wholesale relationships, selling opportunities, and geographic reach. New Edge Networks has agreements with most major carriers offering its wholesale partners reach throughout the United States and foreign countries.
Cybera Inc., a Nashville, Tennessee-based company delivering broadband private networking solutions to businesses, became one of the first wholesale providers to sign up for Wholesale BigFoot.
“Project Big Foot more than doubles the existing Cybera DSL footprint,” said Nathan Estes, director of product development for Cybera. “This is especially important to franchise retail organizations such as restaurants and convenience stores that are realizing the value and benefits of Cybera's SmartNetwork services.
“DSL access is a primary feature in our network architecture because it provides the security and reliability of Frame Relay at significant cost savings to the client,” Estes said. “New Edge Networks helps us minimize the complexity of managing multi-carrier relationships. In turn, we can spend more time creating customized solutions and delivering superior service to our clients.”
