VANCOUVER, Wash. – (June 24, 2004) – New Edge Networks is offering potentially stranded Winstar Communication customers a safe haven and incentives for migrating their frame relay, ATM, and private line data services to avoid a proposed service cutoff.
New Edge Networks is offering to waive new installation charges and cost of first month’s service for Winstar customers that migrate their multi-site data connections. Affected customers are primarily based in California and 32 other states.
In a letter dated June 18, 2004, Winstar told about 200 affected business customers it no longer intends to provide frame relay, ATM, or private line services. The letter urged customers that they “must contract with a new service provider as quickly as possible, but not later than July 15, 2004 or you may lose your service.” Winstar said it would work with the carrier their customers select to assist in the service transition.
“New Edge Networks has mobilized its wide area networking group to address the needs of potentially stranded customers who cannot afford to lose their frame relay or ATM connections,” said Dan Moffat, president and CEO of New Edge Networks. “New Edge Networks has experience on these types of migrations. We can ensure a successful migration if we receive orders before the July 15 deadline.”
